Nobody now in Britain really trusts our politicians any more do we? Why is that do you think? Perhaps it is because they are always on the TV, the Radio, the Newspapers and they never seem to be sincere, never seem to tell it as it is, never give a straight answer to a straight question, do you think?

Do we see them as conviction politicians, or as focus group mouthpieces? Do we see them as gifted orators with great delivery, or gifted autocue readers with good eyesight? Do we see them as dedicated accomplished speech writers good with words, or ghost writers wordsmith’s miming performers with great acting ability? Do we see them as dedicated public servants serving their voters, or as self serving private individuals serving their own interest? Do we see them as representing their diverse electorate, or do we see them as controlled freaks representing their party? Do we care about ever re-electing them or do we hope for a fresh face? Do we think they ever put their necks on the block to help us, or do we think they will chose to put our interests in the firing line?

Main Party Question; who would you go into coalition with if you don’t get a majority in the General Election? and Answers:-

Conservative – we don’t consider that possibility and are planning to win hands down [the LIE]

Minor Party Question; who would you go into coalition with if you can be a makeweight after the General Election? and Answers:-

All – we haven’t thought about that yet [the LIE]

[the TRUTH – any one of them that can give us a taste of power

Ah but there is a new kid on the block isn’t there? UKIP. Do we trust them any better then? Well ignorance is bliss isn’t it? Familiarity breeds contempt, so unfamiliarity must generate esteem? They are the underdog and we all favour the underdog don’t we? They are the baby in the political species and babies are appealing to us? Everyone is being nasty to them and we all hate bullies certainly? They are winners, and we love to back winners, surely? Leader Nigel Farage convincingly plays the field as one of us, and we like that even if it isn’t accurate (he is actually a very rich city boy spiv isn’t he?)? He is different as he always seems to meet a nasty question with a honest answer and that is endearing.

Ah well that’s politics in the modern age isn’t it?

[Perhaps we have caught this scepticism from our American role models? They don’t have faith in their President and we don’t trust our Prime Minister. They don’t relate to their political parties and we distrust ours. They are warely of their national representatives and we are suspicious of our members of parliament]
